The Blanca/Fort Garland Community Center welcomes both locals and tourists year-round, offering daily, monthly, and annual passes for purchase. Fort Garland, established in 1858, was constructed to address conflicts between white settlers and the Utes residing in the San Luis Valley. However, nearly a decade later, tensions persisted, leading to the Ninth Cavalry's intervention to prevent further escalation. Sangre de Cristo Mountains
