Since her first childhood visit to her father's birthplace in Dexter, her heart was captivated by midwestern culture and it's lush-green surroundings. There was never a doubt in her mind that she would return one day, making this area her home.
Today, Mary Darby joins the Century 21 Ashland Realty Team with a heart of passion for midwestern charm, which radiates throughout southeast Missouri. Proudly, making Cape Girardeau her home, she is determined to provide dedicated services to her clients, assisting them with one of life's most paramount ventures; buying or selling a home.
Leaving behind a 30 year career in public education as a high school teacher and guidance counselor, Mary approaches the realm of real estate with the same level of dedication demonstrated to her students. She exudes strong communication and listening skills, she is patient and thorough when teaching people to understand difficult concepts, she is tenacious at keeping those who depend upon her services up to date and well informed of situations as they arise, and she is 100% dedicated to honesty, integrity, and ethical practices, according to state and national real estate law.
Having lived in Cape Girardeau for one year, Mary has immersed herself in both community and personal pursuits in an overwhelming effort to acclimate into a Midwestern world she fell in love with as a child. She is a member of the Cape Girardeau Historical Preservation Council, she serves as the Hospitality Chairperson for the Cape Girardeau County History Center, she is an active member of the Nancy Hunter Chapter of the D.A.R., and she participates with the River Heritage Quilting Guild. Recently, Mary has launched a new group within the community, the "Rural Life Photography Club," a team of freelance photographers that is devoted to shooting rural settings and small-town life. In her spare time she enjoys photography, geneology, quilting, and playing the piano.
Mary holds a Bachelor's degree in History, with a minor in English, from the University of Northern Iowa, and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education ,with emphasis in Language Arts, from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
