It is rare to find such a large ranch (1544 +/- acres) close to the Bay Area for sale. The ranch was originally part of a 10,000 acre ranch that was bought by a Swiss dairyman sight unseen in 1897. The old ranch house is actually two cabins put together. Back in the early 1900 s there was an active magnesite mine in the area. After World War II, the mine was closed and the current owners Grandfather moved two of the mining cabins to his property. The house needs some TLC, but would make a great hunting camp.

This property is a recreational nirvana. It is almost equidistance between San Jose, Livermore and Patterson. You are so close to the Bay Area, but once you come to the ranch it will seem you are a million miles away. The Tule Elk were reintroduced in the late 1970 s into the valley and now number close to 100 elk.
